Amazing place. Incredible people.
|
My husband and I read so many fantastic reviews about El Paso de las
Lapas before we made our first visit to Costa Rica for our honeymoon.
Somehow our experience exceeded all the wonderful things we previously
heard about the hotel.
From the moment we arrived Laura and
Flora’s hospitality was incredible. They did so many little things
throughout our stay to make our time special, not just meeting our needs
but ensuring that we had a memorable stay from start to finish. The
meals they ordered for us, the homemade breakfasts, and the excursions
they arranged were just the start. My birthday happened to be on the
week we visited and Laura and Flora made sure it was special. I happened
to leave a bag at the hotel, and it was returned without any cost or
inconvenience. We had trouble arranging a trip back to the airport, but
lets just say they took care of it better than we could have ever
imagined. Everything is done with such kindness and ease, it really
makes for such an incredible experience. The graciousness and
hospitality of the sisters at El Paso de las Lapas can not be
overstated. I could go on and on with examples of all the wonderful
things they did, and personal touches they added. They really are
special women!
Oh yeah, and the hotel? It’s absolutely beautiful.
El Paso de las Lapas is tucked away from the bustle of Jaco in its own
corner outside of the town. It might as well have been secluded miles
away from anyone else. We hardly left, aside from a couple trips and a
couple meals. I got a terrific massage, and we loved spending hours by
the pool, or on our patio enjoying the amazing scenery. The hotel is so
relaxing and the surroundings so beautiful. It was the perfect setting
for a getaway. We were so happy to have discovered this gem, and knew
from the second we met Laura that it was going to be an incredible week.
If
you are planning a trip to Costa Rica, plan on spending time here! And
if you are anywhere near Jaco you HAVE to stay at El Paso de las Lapas.
We were so sad to leave, not just because of the beautiful surroundings,
but because of the wonderful people that run the hotel. It would have
been an awesome visit without all the personal touches they added, but
all that they did to make sure our honeymoon went beautifully made for
an unforgettable stay. Laura, Flora and family we love you guys! Can’t
wait for our next visit!

Excellent Service
|
The El Paso de Las Lapas hotel exceeded my expectations in several ways. The service was incredible in many aspects: -
The hotel manager was able to work with a delivery service to retrieve a
left cell phone in a town 3 hours away and had it delivered in 5 hours
for $35. We thought that the cell phone was never to be found again but
due to his persistance, he solved that problem. He probably worked for
30 minutes on making that happen. - The day of our check out, we received a personal wake up knock and breakfast at 4 a.m. in the morning
We
were the only people in the hotel on the first night and enjoyed the
place all to ourselves - it felt like our own personal mansion complete
with a maid, security and manager. The place is very quiet and full of
wildlife. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Wonderful place to relax!
|
The last 1 km down a pot-holed dirt road made us question our decision
to stay here...however once we entered the gated drive way, were greeted
by owner Laura all concerns quickly faded away. The grounds and buildings are wonderfully maintained and appointed. Arriving
in the height of the rainy season (for a wedding) meant we were the
only guests in this 12 room intimate oasis. That did not deter the staff
from putting on a full show...from the care and cleanliness of the pool
& grounds to the wonderful breakfast served pool side. Since
the location is a little off the beaten path, Laura makes up by
offering take-out from many of the best local restaurants delivered
right to you private balcony dining area. Cab rides were quickly
arranged. Truly a wonderful place to stay and enjoy a relaxed vacation.

Beach/Jungle Adventure

I love this beautiful hotel. Very personal attention...only 10 rooms!
Great to plan a family gathering or small wedding...I didn't want to
leave, but HAD to see more of Costa Rica. Could have spent the entire
trip on the property. Not too big, very romantice had a massage in the
hut with my husband listening to the river and the rain coming down! The
staff are fantastic wish I was there right now!

So relaxing
|
We spent two nights in this idyllic hotel set on the edge of the forest.
Very peaceful with a lovely pool. The room was exceptional with balcony
and view of the pool, garden and forest beyond. They serve breakfast but
no other meals, although the manager will get a range of meals from a
choice of several menus in your room from local restaurants in Jaco.
Just make your choice and he brings it to your room or the restarant
area, whichever you like. There is also a small kitchen attached to the
balcony with fridge, hotplates and microwave so you can cook basic meals
if you like. The manager Juan Carlos could not have been more charming
and helpful, initially with booking the room from England by e-mail and
organising a brilliant forest trip in Carara where we saw Mackaws, Jesus
lizard, kingfisher, bird eating snake and Kingfisher . He even managed
to keep secret from my partner the fact that we were going on to a
cruise from Puerta Caldera the next day, and instructed the taxi driver
to keep quiet as well!

A true gem!
|
Our stay here was amazing from beginning to end. Laura and Flora are
incredible hostesses who make you feel like you´re at home. Our trip
started with a wine toast greeting when we arrived. The accommodations
were perfect. The towels were plush, the bedding was top notch and the
rooms are very clean. It truly is luxurious. On top of that, you can
have a quiet breakfast overlooking the pool and the greens and see
exotic birds fly by. The owners also helped us select trips and
adventures to fill our days and every tour they selected was also top
notch. Finally, they provided free cab service into Jaco, which is about
five minutes away. I´m a very picky traveler and I had no complaints
about this hotel. But more than anything, the hospitality was what made
this trip so memorable. This is definitely worthy staying at!

Beautiful resort nestled in the rain forest.
|
This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever visited. Smaller
than the typical resort, with only 12 suites, which made it much more
relaxing. The rooms are beautiful, clean and all with a large balcony
overlooking the pool area. Service is great and the breakfast is very
good. There are many attractions in close proximity to this hotel and
the staff will help you plan your activities. Now, this is what
really makes this hotel special: Laura, the owner/ manager, makes it her
mission to ensure you are taken care of. From the minute she greets you
upon your arrival with a glass of wine, you know this is not going to
be your typical hotel experience. She is attentive, yet never imposing
as she helps you choose attractions, restaurants, etc. She is truly
interested in making sure you enjoy Costa Rica and, specifically, El
Paso de Las Lapas. By the time you leave, you will feel that you have
made a new friend, and you have. I highly recommend this hotel. You will be very impressed.

Among the very, very best
|
great alternative to mega resorts where you´re a number instead of a
name. rooms were sparkling clean and beautifully furnished. ended up
spending nights here on two occasions, leaving and returning to the
airport. breakfast was consistent, hearty, and delicious. staff was
warm, gracious, knowledgeable, and made for a perfect visit (both
times). a little off the beaten path but the seclusion was a welcome
break from the totes and activity of nearby jaco.

Amazing hospitality
|
For two young girl travelers with no Spanish speaking experience and no
real knowledge of the country, Costa Rica could have been a very
difficult experience. Laura made all the doubt and worry of being in
another country disappear. Between in good stories and guidance we were
able to enjoy the wonderful country with ease. She guided us though the
best tours to take (to which we did ATV, surfing, Tortuga Island and
ziplining in four days!), always delivered delicious breakfast to fuel
our adventures and happily sent us to the city to enjoy the night life. The
hotel itself is also a gorgeous getaway. Laura provides a beautiful
hotel room to each guest with large and modern facilities, bathroom,
kitchen, air conditioning. The second floor rooms each have patios to
enjoy meals and look out at the infinity pool and lounge area in the
back. To top it off - wifi is available throughout the hotel for free. I
couldn´t have gotten any luckier finding this hotel.

Heaven on earth
|
We loved our stay at El Paso de las Lapas. The rooms are beautiful and
very well decorated. At arrival there was a basket with snacks in the
room fully included. The scenery was so nice with the small river behind
the pool and the green forest behind that. The service was very
good. When we wanted to get up earlier and have a early breakfast that
was no problem and if we had any questions they always had good advice. It was one of the most beautiful hotel we stayed in during our trip trough Costa Rica
